There’s no presents, not this christmas
There’s no presents Tom and jerry, drinking sherry They don’t give a damn I'm about ready to go home for Christmas now. For some reason there's a big pool of water in our bathroom, and the entrance smells like grilled cheese. Something is definitely not right, but I'm pretty sure it's not my problem. On that rather bizarre note, I wish you all a merry christmas (I don't wanna fight tonight). Thursday, December 22, 2005
Good Night, And Goodbye Ruth.
I've just seen George Clooney's Good Night and Good Luck, and it was pretty brilliant. I highly recommend it, especially if you have some kind of interest in the McCarthy era. It's pretty amazing that in a cast of George Clooney, Robert Downey, Jeff Daniels and more, good ol' Leland Palmer pretty much steals every scene he's in. And even more amazing: How can the Sugarbabes just pull the old switch-aroo, and exchange one of their members within 24 hrs? Has Sugarbabes suddenly turned into the Menudo of girlsbands? Only time will tell. But it could be kinda cool.... So are you in a christmassy mood? Maybe on saturday... Tuesday, December 13, 2005

It's Christmas day and I'm not prepared
Everybody's out there running scared so take a little bit off the top I don't care, just make it stop. It's amazing how Slipknot lyrics become so relevant, if you just change one word to make it more Christmassy. Other suggestions for the Slipknot Christmas album could be People = Elfs, Pulse of the Eggnog, or even Disasterpudding. It's actually a bit sad, I've just realized that I won't be working for my old friend Henning anymore, so for the first time since 1999 he probably won't send me a card for Christmas. Oh Henning, the times we had together... Wednesday, November 30, 2005
Knowing Me Knowing Yule... Aha.
Just when I was convinced that this year's prize for "stupidest lyric to plague the airwaves" would go to Hollaback Girl (This Shit is bananas, b-an-an-as) somebody goes and pretty much explodes the scale on which we judge stupid lyrics. My Humps by Black Eyed Peas is by far the dumbest thing I've ever heard. An excerpt, if you don't mind: "I'ma get get get get you drunk. Get you love drunk off my hump. My hump my hump my hump my hump my hump. My hump my hump my hump my lovely little lumps" Amazingly it lacks the sexual innuendo of Nine Inch Nails' Closer, the intelligence of De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da by The Police (remember to crank the volume if you enter that site...), and the melody of having your eardrum pierced with a shovel. In other news, I've realized that Århus Stiftstidende are very sneaky when it comes to sending out bills for stuff you haven't asked for, but very nice when it comes to saying you don't have to pay them. Also I've realized that people downtown have already gone into christmas mode which makes them even more detestable than usual.
No Football?
A couple of weeks ago TDC, who run the cable-tv biz in my part of town, decided that it would be funny to switch some of the channels around. That way people would have to find the channels again, and put them back into their place in the natural order of the tv. Suddenly the Disney channel was where Kanal 5 used to be, and something popped up where CNN used to be. And then Kanal 5 and CNN would be somewhere else. The problem is that as it is right now, neither my tv nor video can find either of the two channels. I've been surfing the frequencies like a mad person, but alas, with no luck. And to make matters worse, the support people at TDC and Dantax (who made my tv) seem rather unimpressed by my desperate cries for help. After having explained my problem in great length in an email to their support-person, I received an email saying: "Dantax 20MO-1 can take all channels (VHF, UHF and S)". The way I see it, that is a) more of a statement, than an actual attempt to help, and b) obviousely not true in the case of my tv, because if it was I would have been watching Kanal 5 and CNN all week. But I couldn't. It's really starting to piss me off bigtime that I can't see these two channels, because Kanal 5 is where I watch English, German and Spanish football + Royal League (if I'm really bored), and CNN is where I watch news and The Daily Show. And it pisses me off even more that there was absolutely no reason why TDC should go and f*ck with a system that worked perfectly fine, and then make it sound on their homepage like they had done me a favour. People shouldn't mess with other people's tv's - it's just wrong! Sunday, November 20, 2005
New Years Resolutions, pt. I.
It's beginning to be that time of the year, where people are making lists to summarize the year, and preparing for the next one. I, for one, am a firm believer in new years resolutions, and I have already planned one that is potentially brilliant and life-altering all at once. I have come to the realization that I'm not really as funny in person as I could be. Generally I have a tendency to just blurt out the first thing that comes to mind, and more often than not, it doesn't really make a lot of sense. On the other side I sometimes get applauded for writing funny text messages to people on my cell-phone. So in all its simplicity, my latest resolution is that when people say anything to me, I'll wait for about a minute and then state my answer in 160 characters or less. It could work out brilliantly. Other resolutions include:

Eh, hello?
Yeah, it's me. Just wanted to let you know that I'm okay. I'm not dead, og ill, or depressed or anything. A bit of a cough, but that's it. Honestly, it's all good. You don't have to worry about me. And yeah, I promise to keep in touch more often. Okay? Great. Bye. Friday, October 28, 2005
Arguing on IMDB is like running in the Special Olympics.
Even if you win, you're still retarded. I'm watching American Dad right now, and it's nowhere as fun as Family Guy. But on the plus side it made me enter the IMDB messageboard where I stumbled upon some funny stuff. This picture is pretty uncanny, eventhough it is unfortunately a fake. I'm going to see Louisville play at Gyngen tonight, and then it's early home and get a good nights sleep, before it's up at an unreasonably early hour and get a plane to London. Hopefully we'll be settled in in time to go to Islington, find a pub and watch the north London derby at 1pm. I'm tired already. And I've been working at my new job the last two days, and so far it has been very nice, and they seem like a good crowd. Yesterday we went to a restaurant, and afterwards we saw Mads Langer at Musiccafeen. Pretty good, even though I could do without his U2 cover. Oh, and my study group had a meeting with Danish director Jon Bang Carlsen today, which went extremely well, and he totally greenlighted the script for our next short film. Very cool. Freedom Fries avec Mayo, oui?
So, Belgium is a weird country, or at least Brussels is. Weird in a good way. I had a very nice trip, thank you very much, but there really wasn't very much to see. At best it is a very postmodern city, where old, old churches are standing in the shade of new office buildings. And of course the only real bona fide tourist attraction I knew, the Manneken Pis, was covered up as it was being cleaned and restored, or something to that effect. At the same time it was interesting to see the European Parliament, and not least how all the Eurocrats went out to the nearby bars at 6pm on fridays. And the beers, oh Lord the beers. There are to many to mention, but Kwak and Grimbergen Dubbel deserve honorable mentions. And if there ever was one that could knock you out and make you wake up the next day with an intense hangover, crucified on the top of a hill, I suspect it would be this one. Oh well, now, dozens of trays of French fries with perverse quantities of mayo later, I'm back in Denmark, and life seems to go on in an orderly fashion. I've been doing absolutely nothing, except playing Fifa06 since I got back. And what is up with football? Rommedahl scored a matchwinner and Pires made the biggest hash of a penalty in the history of hash. I'm flabbergasted! My gast is completely flabbered. Tuesday, October 18, 2005

... and just when I thought Belgium was all about waffles and beer, it turns out that they are really into bombing the sh*t out of smurfs! How incredibly bizarre. Now I can't wait to go there...
We put the fun in Funeral.
I bought "Funeral" by Arcade Fire yesterday. It's so pretentious that it screams to high heaven. Luckily it is also very good indeed, and I suspect it will gain new dimensions in the discman, as opposed to on my very tiny stereo. I'm leaving for the mean streets of Bruxelles today, which I'm looking very much forward to. Unfortunately that means I will miss today's football action, when Denmark finally make it clear that they won't play at next years World Cup. If, however, you want to support our Albanian friends, or piss off a Turkish guy you should go here and learn some handy phrases. BT also has an incredibly funny, in a sad sad way, article about Woody Woodgate and his almost quixotic trials in Real Madrid. The Sun is running the same story (but in English, obviously) yet they fail to realize it's full comedic potential. See you on the other side... Sunday, October 09, 2005
![]() After losing her deal with H&M I'm personally very pleased to see Kate Moss bounce right back on the scene, as the new spokesperson for Escobar-Brand Baking Soda. Here's a picture from the campaign launch. With a little bit of luck, this might be the step to revitalize her career, and perhaps even reunite her with Pete Doherty. I know my fingers are crossed. Out of exile? Into exile.
Right now now I'm hanging out at my parents' place, and it would actually be silly going out tonight. For the first time in years, there's actually a glut of quality tv going on tonight. DR2 are showing the documentary DIG, which I'm really looking forward to, there's Extras on Norwegian tv, and possibly The Daily Show on CNN. We may even have to get the VCR running to tape Extras. Amazing! There's also a programme right now where 'celebrities' are singing showtunes, and for some reason I suspect that Bjørn Lomborg may have an edge over the others. He seems like he can carry a tune. Uh, and I've joined the Frekvens team, and posted my first tidbit of news today. And is it me or is that CC Deville on Colbert's blog, and what in earth is he doing there? Maybe Colbert is the real Unskinny Bob? We'll probably never know. Perhaps his Mama don't dance and his daddy don't rock n' roll. Whatever the case is, I feel safe in the knowledge that this time next week I'll be eating waffles and drinking Leffe. Can't wait. Oh, and I hope Jørgen Leth gets locked up, so he can finally realize his dream project "Det Autoerotiske Menneske." On the plus side that movie can't cost the state 450.000 dkr. Yet Another Moustache Post.
![]() It's been a while since I've posted any pictures, and they always to liven up the ol' blog, don't they? People who know me will hopefully notice that I have been growing my moustache, which is finally beginning to kick in, at the tender age of 25. Even though it sounds a bit cliché, I am growing it for a movie; more specifically a 60 secund anti-smoking add, that we are doing at school. Unfortunately it will probably never achieve the Tom Selleck-esque proportions that I so badly want. I have decided not to go to the pub and watch Arsenal tonight, but instead stay in the relative safety of my own room, and channel negative energy towards Manchester United. The sad thing is that I have so much negative energy, and if I could only find a way to harness it, surely then the Manc(er)s would never win a game again. Untitled Fraggle Rock Project. Yes or no? I'm thinking 'no'... unless they get Tom Hanks for the part of Gobo. Saturday, September 24, 2005
Pancake Day.
I have to say that when it comes to newspapers my favorite is Politiken. Today the front page of the culture section is an article that systematically shows how episodes of Casper Christensen's new sit-com, Klovn, are ripped of from Curb Your Enthusiasm. Along with the article there's a list of some of the other times he has ripped of popular tv-shows, most blatantly Safari which was for large parts just a translated version of Reeves & Mortimer. It's quite impressive how you can base your entire career on stealing material from other people, and at the same time maintaining a holier than thou attitude towards groups like Linie 3, because they have done the same routines for a quarter of a decade. Not that I am a fan of Linie 3 or anything. For your viewing pleasure take a look at Mulligan and O'Hare, and then Skipper og Lille-Flemming. Thursday, September 22, 2005
Just Smile and Wave.
In a kind of sp*r of the moment thing I went and saw Madagascar yesterday, and i thought it was really funny. I don't know why I always end up liking the animationfilms that get the worst reviews (The Emperors New Groove, Hercules), but in my book it was way better than Shrek 2 and Finding Nemo. Maybe because there is precious little music, except from Ali G singing I like to Move It. Another great thing about it is that when you come home, you can enter IMDB and join in on the discussion on whether or not the Lemur-king is a homosexual. One of the arguments for him being a homosexual is that he's a "pre madonna", which I guess means he's old enough to be Jesus' grandfather. On a completely different note I'll just remind you all to go see Louisville play on Store Torv tonight. I think it's about 20.30. Thursday, September 15, 2005
The Best a Man Can Get.
If I was ever to direct a play or a movie about Colin Powell I think I would get James Earl Jones for the part. Maybe even Jamie Foxx, in an academy award winning part. Actually I think I could think of a million people who could play Colin Powell, who would be more suited than the very white, former christmas heartthrob, Jens Zacho-Boye. Oh the horror! Life imitating art, part 1: "Independent movies are all about gay cowboys eating pudding". Life imitating art, part 2: A while ago I posted a The Onion article called "Fuck everything, we're doing five blades", and now Gillette unveils their plans for "five blades and two strips". Beautiful! [via interestingstuff] I'm going to see Red Eye tonight, don't exactly know what to expect. Tuesday, September 13, 2005
Well do ya, do ya, do ya, do ya wanna....
...hear the new Franz Ferdinand single? If yes, there's a website where you can "hear" it here. Cold Wind by The Arcade Fire is also highly recommendable, if you're into whiney canadians, and aren't we all? I've added a link to the General on the left. Check him out. Sunday, September 11, 2005
Damn this curse of mine!
I guess this is what is bound to happen when you forget your lucky Arsenal shirt at home. What a horrible mess that was. I actually believe that this is the first time I've started watching an Arsenal game without seeing the entire match, so I didn't even see Reyes' consolation goal. On a more possitive note this humble weblog has now had more than 20.000 hits, which means that it now has had more hits than at the same time last year. Hurray. Right now I'm following the Clash of the Titans; Sinister Silkeborg vs. Mighty Horsens on the interweb, and as expected it is still 0-0 after about an hour. Good old Danish football! Meanwhile Morten Duncan is the best striker in Denmark, and AGF supposedly has the most intelligent fans. The world has gone crazy I tell you. Saturday, September 10, 2005
His name is General...
They showed the first episode of Extras on norwegian tv yesterday, and, as I'm sure Anderz would agree, it was absolutely brilliant. Gervais' character was a bit like a very sinister Costanza, which is right up my alley. Also it's okay to steal from Costanza since Jason Alexander lost a big part of his streetcred by doing Listen Up, which in reality is a dull version of Full House. I bought my tickets to Bruxelles yesterday, so now it's definite that I'm going there next month, and I'm looking forward to it a lot. Some weeks ago I declared that I would wear my gold Arsenal away shirt for the next 5 games, and that the shirt would singlehandedly lead us to victory. Yesterday I then forgot to bring the shirt to my parents' place, where I am now, and lo and behold: Henry and Ljungberg miss todays game. Bollocks! And my buddy The General has started a rather excellent blog so check it out, and check out the old slugger tonight. Monday, September 05, 2005
Crash Boom Bang.
Sadly Crash wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Actually it was decent enough, not bad at all, but the Magnolia-light label that it has received from time to time is not entirely unjustified. The performances are all good, even the ones that you don't exactly expect Oscar material from (That's you Ryan Phillippe, Sandra Bullock and Brendan Fraser). The biggest surprise is Ludacris, who is actually very funny in it. The story in itself is also fair enough, I just couldn't shake the feeling of having seen most of it before, and especially the ending seems to be lifted specifically from a scene in Magnolia. All tutored out...
Now that my tutoring days are over, except for a trip downtown to watch Crash tomorrow, I have once again put my partying days behind me. I now plan to adopt a lifestyle that is borderline born-again Christian, wxcept from the right wing, religious fanaticism. I don't really know what to expect from Crash. Apparently it has gotten great reviews, but then again the trailer looked a bit cheesy. But then again, how often do you get to see Tony Danza these days? I hope he's the boss in this one. I haven't really been doing a lot today, so I watched the MTV Awards which was just about the biggest waste of time ever. It is however comforting to see that American MTV is apparently just as bad as the Danish version. I ended up spending a lot of time reading quotes from www.bash.org, which is both incredibly geeky, and very funny stuff. I think this one was my favorite for some reason. If you wanna be one of the cool kids, go check out new Dansih band Veto. They are nice people. Saturday, August 27, 2005
*Updated*
Washington D.C. Crawford. Represent. Peace. *Ok, so apparently the Jon Stewart link mentioned below doesn't work, and I can't figure out why not. It worked when I made it! So go here if you want to see it, and click on the link called MC Dubya. In other news, Alf's dad is gay and on crack.* I know I've already made 100 links to videos from The Daily Show, but it is by far the best thing on Tv these days. So here's another one, with Jon once again explaining the concept of talking points. It's very good stuff, and especially the last couple of seconds did it for me. Monday, August 22, 2005
When I Was Just a Little Boy...
Earlier I have linked to the Top 10 Most Ridiculous Black Metal Pics of All Time, so now it's time for the sequel, which can be found here, and which is just as funny. And while we're at it, here's the worst rock stars ever. I've always liked Portsmouth, but this is just a silly signing. Apparently all it takes is one win against England, before the entire Danish national team look really interesting to English clubs. I'm not so sure though that Liverpool are going to buy Agger this time around. Because that would almost be even sillier. The entire concept that they should be willing to ofload Milan Baros in order to buy Daniella Agger is mindblowing. Wednesday, August 17, 2005
"It's only a consolation though."
Right now the good people of Charlton are going "Whaaat???!". Yes indeed, Rommedahl scored one and got an assist, which is the safest sign that England where not only beaten, but pretty humiliated by a Danish team who looked very average in the first half, but pretty impressive in the second. I found this match report, which I thought was very funny. Especially the caption under the picture of Jon Dahl, and refering to Northern Ireland as Northern Ireland Nil made me laugh. I hope that these dreamses really can't become...
Hurray, finally the day arrived where the real football season started. Arsenal beat Newcastle in a game that wasn't fantastic, but still better than pretty much any game in the Danish league. It's a bit concerning that it was so hard to beat a 10 man team, and that it took a somewhat dubious penalty to get into the game. On the plus side, it was nice to see that Van Persie has picked up right where he left off last year. Star Wars humour is geeky, but this is pretty funny. Wednesday, August 10, 2005
Mr. Dog.
We are for the moment in the midst of what must be considered the greatest blogging slump since Julius Cesar mysteriously stopped updating his weblog on March 15, 44 BC. I guess it has something to do with summer vacations, or the novelty of the phenomenon finally wearing off. Or maybe the fact that the most exciting thing in the news is that Paris Hilton does stupid things all the time. Or maybe that there is no football and no concerts to write about, and that Fantastic Four was less than fantastic. It's just hard to take Hornblower seriously as a superhero. Luckily Frekvens has just had it's bi-monthly update, with a rather brilliant link to the new Ok Go video. Beautiful stuff! And good ol' Arseblogger is still delivering the goods, even though Silly Season has been extremely quiet, and not very silly, this year. Tonight Brøndby will play Ajax, and if there's any justice in the world they will be severely beaten. That's it for now. Cheers... Sunday, July 31, 2005
If he'd known about the way they burnt witches and that, Jesus would have been mad. But if Jesus had seen U2 he'd be very mad indeed. Jesus Would Throw Bottles at U2.
Am I the only one getting a bit tired of hearig about U2? Does this qualify as news? Meanwhile, I am considering making an appearance at Danmarks Grimmeste Festival. So if any of the usual suspects want to join the fun, please let me know... Wednesday, July 27, 2005
Each time you curse at girls, you curse a little at yourself.
So, what have I been doing lately? Saw Batman. The movie - not the man. The new movie that is, and from now and on it shall be known as the second best Batman flick so far. I still think Tim Burton's first one was better, but maybe it's just nostalgia talking. And then out of nowhere, I started reading 'The Book'. What the heck, all the other kids are doing it, I thought to myself. Eventhough I hate to admit it it was very entertaining, and I ended up reading it in less than 48 hours. It should be noted however, that there wasn't anything on tv, and I had little else to do. Why I keep apologizing I don't know... Tomorrow I'll go see I Heart Huckabees, which has by far the weirdest homepage a movie ever had. Oh, the indietegrity! Monday, July 25, 2005

Boom Goes The Dynamite.
After seeing the Boom Goes the Dynamite- kid on the Letterman show yesterday, I thought I would share it with you. So here it is, and you even get a bit of follow-up. and a bit here. John referred me to the video of Leeroy playing World of Warcraft with his friends. Also pretty funny stuff. And in the tradition of leaving on a highnote, this little piece of stupidity had me laughing so hard I almost had an accident. Thursday, July 14, 2005
Is That Water Running Out of Your Nose?
I'm not exactly sure how this has happened, but during this years hottest week, I have managed to get a very nasty cold. This quite obviously sucks, because I most probably have to cancel all my plans for this weekend. Crap. Other crap news is that Arsenal have sold Vieira. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise, I'm not quite sure. But I've always said that if the players don't want to play for Arsenal anymore, they should be sold in a hurry. And I think the generel opinion is that Vieira hasn't been fully committed to the club for a while. I need one of these! I haven't really got anything interesting to say right now, since I've been in bed for the last 24 hrs. But one of these days I'll get around to revising my top 50 albums, since I have totally forgotten a couple of albums, including United by Faith, Summerteeth and Pack Up the Cats. And I'm sure we all know how wrong that is! Bad Timing? KRAMER: The Andrea Doria collided with the Stockholm in dense fog 21 miles off the coast of Nantucket. GEORGE: How do you know? KRAMER: it's in my book - "Astonishing Tales of the Sea". 51 people died. GEORGE: 51 people?! KRAMER: That's it?! GEORGE: I thought it was, like, a thousand! KRAMER: There were 1,650 survivors. GEORGE: That's no tragedy! How many people do you lose on a normal cruse? 30? 40?! I Wonder if it was a good decision to air The Andrea Doria episode of Seinfeld today? Actually, I don't really care too much, and it is obviously a coincidence, but with the similarities between the number of casualties I could see how some people might be offended. I just thought it was a weird coincidence... Monday, July 04, 2005
Top 50 Records.
One of the big talking points at Roskilde was Nicki's top 50 albums list, which can be found over at Dennis' blog. So I've decided to make my own list, original as I am. I have made this list from memory alone, since I am not in reach om my CD collection right now, which explains why I have probably left some or other cd out. The criterias were that they had to be albums I knew by heart, so I couldn't just throw in something like Revolver, because I honestly don't know which songs are on that, I just know that it is usually on these kinds of lists. Another criteria was that live records were ok, but compilations were not allowed, which explains why Duran Duran, Gangway, Ramones etc are not on the list. So without further ado, here are my to 50 albums list: 1. Megadeth: Countdown to Extinction 2. Alice in Chains: Dirt 3. Nine Inch Nails: The Fragile 4. Ac/Dc: Back in Black 5. Suicidal Tendencies: The Art of Rebellion 6. Type O Negative: Bloody Kisses 7. Metallica: Master of Puppets 8. Nine Inch Nails: The Downward Spiral 9. Queens of the Stone Age: Rated R 10. Guns n’ Roses: Appetite for Destruction 17. Filter: Title of Record 18. Paradise Lost: Draconian Times 19. Pete Yorn: Music for the Morning After 20. Soundgarden: Superunknown 21. Type O Negative: World Coming Down 22. Nirvana: Nevermind 23. Pantera: Vulgar Display of Power 24. Alice in Chains: Unplugged 25. Soulwax: Much Against Everyone’s Advice 26. Fountains of Wayne: Utopia Parkway 27. Deftones: White Pony 28. Therapy?: Troublegum 29. Pantera: Cowboys From Hell 30. Corrosion of Conformity: Wiseblood 31. Machine Head: Burn My Eyes 32. Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
That's a quote from Berthold Auerbach, and I have to say that he was only about partially right. I have just returned from this year's Roskilde Festival, where for once we had brilliant weather. But of course the combination of high sun and 65.000 people means that the air consists of about 50% dust. And dustclouds and sunblock is just about the safest way to get extremely dirty. But a good time was had by all, although I can feel that my body is getting a bit to old for consecutive days of drinking, and watching four concerts in a day and then go sleeping on the ground. Anyway, here's a list of the bands I saw, with small comments, because I can't be arsed to write any reviews: Athlete (Pretty good, better than their singles) Velvet Revolver (Very good show, Weiland is extremely cool, good cover songs) Kent (I'm not a big fan, but it was a good show) The Ponys (Didn't do much for me. Their bassist could not hit a clean note if she got payed for it. Which I suppose she did) The Haunted (Heard most of the show from outside the tent, but it sounded like a good show) Snoop Dogg (Saw 5 or 6 shows and he is the P.I.M.P. Good show. Went over to see Håkon H) Håkon Hellstrøm (Saw 2 songs - sucked. The other guys liked it, so I'm probably wrong) Audioslave (Extremely cool, especially cover versions of Black Hole Sun and Killing in the Name and Bulls on Parade) Black Sabbath (Brilliant. Not quite as brilliant as in '98, but still brilliant) Fantomas (Saw couple of songs. Noisy) Jimmy Eat World (Brilliant, energetic performance) Foo Fighters (Surprisingly mediocre, too long jams, but still very entertaining) Outlandish (Saw 2 songs. It wasn't for me) Green Day (Very good, maybe a bit too long. And too many sing alongs and too many gimmicks) Duran Duran (Old songs great, new songs not so much. Played White Lines) Mercenary (Good show, very loud, and very enthusiastic crowd, especially for a show at Sunday noon) The Futureheads (Went out for a burger after a couple of songs. The burger was better than the show) The Faint (Only saw couple of songs, but it sounded pretty good. Very 80's) Bloc Party (very good show mostly because of cool leadsinger. Justified a bit of the hype) Now I'm looking forward to a couple of days rest. After 2 showers I'm about as clean as I get, but I have to say that my soul still feels pretty dusty from the trip. And now we play the waiting game...
![]() I'm happy to say that the weather for this year's Roskilde Festival is looking pretty nice. None of that Glastonbury flooding for us, thank you very much. I'm very close to being ready to go now, so I suspect much of the evening will be spend wandering around restless and impatient. And trying to figure out the easy way to cary all my stuff, a boombox and a case of beer... PS: The waiting game sucks, let's play Hungry Hungry Hippos. Sunday, June 26, 2005
Try To Kill an Hour With a Whiskey Sour.
Skt Hans party and family party are succesfully completed, so now I'm just waiting for the Roskilde festivus to start. This morning at about 9 o'clock I got the happy message that our tent was already there and in good shape, so things are looking good. Yesterday was also the day I finally got my greatest hits albums by Devo and Prefab Sprout. They are both a bit hit n' miss, but the hits are really great. Combined with the Ramones Anthology I purchased for the low low price of 70 dkr the other day, I'm feeling very retro these days. Just for good meassure I'll mention I also got Welcome Interstate Managers yesterday. Click here for an American view on the Spot Festival. Strangely the author defied my stern warnings, and actually went to see Ikscheltaschel. Those crazy americans don't know what's good for them. [via Frekvens] In more tragic news a man was stabbed to death at a Corrosion of Conformity gig. You would think that after Dimebag was shot it would be a bit harder to get weapons into a moshpit. Looking Good.
I went to see the Brendan Benson show yesterday, which was very nice. It was a bit short, and there was very little communication with the audience, but songs were very good, and more rock-ish than I expected. I also had my brain examined and scanned for 45 minutes yesterday. It's actually a bit of a non-event, since it was just for some psychology project. I didn't get paid for it, and though it wasn't exactly pleasant, it wasn't too bad either. In the end I'm just glad to have proof that everything is where it should be, and looks fine. Apart from that, not a lot is going on. It feels like I'm just killing time until Thursday, when the real summer finally kicks in. Monday, June 20, 2005
This is seriously funny stuff:
Triumph telling it like it is to Michael Jackson supporters. A short film about the internet. [both via interestingstuff.dk] A Relatively Closer Look: Hitler References. I'm going to get a brainscan tomorrow, should be interesting. And I'll get a nice picture of my brain, which not a lot of people have. Thursday, June 16, 2005
Who Wears Short Shorts?
I just bought Nevermind, which I'm pretty psyched about. Eventhough I've always been a hugh fan of Nirvana, I've never actually owned any of their cd's, because I had them all on tape back then. But now I figure it's about time to buy all the stuff I have somehow neglected to buy back then, and at 50 dkr there's absolutely no reason not to buy it. Even if it is 14 years too late. There's quite a bit of Arsenal news today, and it's all pretty bad. Van Persie's rape charges are apparently pretty serious, since he's still in jail, and will be for the next 14 days. Obviously I hope he's innocent, and for now I think I'll leave it at that. Other news report that Pires could leave this summer, which is also a load of bollocks. I don't know why it is such a problem to hang on to veterans for Wenger, and this sounds like a repeat of the annual Bergkamp "will he or won't he" saga. If a player like Pires want's to stay around for another 100 years I say it's fine by me. Lastly there's a report that the signing of Hleb has gone all wrong. I can't say I'm too upset about that, since I have no idea who he is, and to my knowledge very few players have made a succesful transition from German to English football. Lehmann, Graversen, Klinsmann, is that about it? Tøfting perhaps? I can't think of any more. On a brighter note I just purchased two pairs of shorts today. Tomorrow I'll pick up som white socks and some sandals, and then I should be ready to go. Sunday, June 12, 2005
Don't Count Your Chickens...
Oh yes, it's Sunday again, and as per usual it's time to do nothing at all. Watch some football, eat some of the 1800grams of chicken I bought recently, watch Celebrity Poker Showdown and generally just kick back. The Spot festival was pretty good, even though I didn't see anything that was absolutely fantastic. The weather was for large parts very nice, and there was a good crowd, and even though I hate to admit it, I do enjoy hobnobbing with the semi-famous and semi-talented. So, inspired by Anders, I'll make a short little list of the things I saw. Friday: The Cleaning Women: Finnish guys, dressed as Cleaning Women, playing home-made instruments. Should be awful, but was excellent fun. Very impressive. Utah: Good, but not fantastic. Relatively straight forward in the Placebo/Radiohead region. Quit Your Dayjob: Swedish Devo wannabies. I only saw a couple of songs, but they were pretty awful, and I doubt they got better. Span. Very good and very rock n' roll. Mid nineties power-rock with great vcals and very heavy guitar. Good stuff. Mikael Simpson: I only saw a couple of his songs, but I have never been a big fan of his music. He is however very funny between songs, and it didn't take long before he started ripping on Brian Steen Nielsen, which is always nice. Hatesphere: Brutal, but very good. Great sound and very funny banter between songs. Saturday: Spleen United: Very good, sounded a lot like old Depeche Mode etc. Surpirsingly heavy, which is always nice. The Mopeds: Average Swedish garage rock. And they played on the dreaded Café Stage, which is never good. So I only saw a couple of songs. Barra Head: Surprisingly good, very tight, and with a very big sound. Reminded me of Helmet. And they're from Denmark, so I'll probably see them again. Figurines: Also a very decent show, but unfortunately very similar to the show they played on Voxhall. Moi Caprice: Not a big fan of the genre, not a big fan of the band. Artsy, and a bit fartsy. Carpark North: Only saw a couple of songs, but they seemed on pretty good form. Super Galore: Danish garagerock. Definitely the biggest positive surprise, eventhough there was hardly any people. Very dirty, and with loads of attitude. Sunday, June 05, 2005
Wanna Die in Beat City.
It turns out Sin City is pretty entertaining, but far from fantastic. Style over substance is not necessarily a bad thing, but it just didn't really engage me or blow me away. And it wasn't for lack of explosions or anything. It was nice to see good old Rutger Hauer again though. The Interpreter on the other hand is quite rubbish. It's just unengaging, predictable and spends too much time discussing the time-honoured traditions of the magic fairytale land of Motombo, which most of all sounds like the actors are pulling their lines out of their butts. Silly stuff indeed. The only film I'm really looking forward to now is Batman Begins (also featuring good old Rutger!), but that won't open in Denmark until next month. I'm watching the video for Shiver by Coldplay right now, and it struck me how buch better I liked them when they were a Jeff Buckley band, than now when they're a big stadium rock band. And I don't even like Jeff Buckley. And it's nice to see how Man United, instead of trying to solve their goalkeeper problems, have just added one more problem to the pile. Friday, June 03, 2005
Everything Seems To Go My Way.
Could this be my Summer of George? I don't know yet, but it would be nice. I'm getting increasingly psyched about the prospect of Spot11, the Skt. Hans Party, a family party and the Roskilde Festival. So without wanting to jinx anything (that headline is not hubris by the way, it's just a Gangway quote. Quotes don't count as hubris, do they?) I think summer will be a blast. The only thing standing between me and the vacation is a paper on movie theories. I've decided to write about some dude called Bazin, who as it happens was all about Italian Neorealism, which I am of course a bit of an expert on by now. And then compare him to Eisenstein, who was by all accounts a Russian bastard. Can't you just feel how great my paper will turn out? And for the first time ever, I actually won a radio competition. It was the "gæt en sammenhæng" thing on P3, where you had to figure out what the connection was between Cypres Hill, Smashing Pumpkins and Red Hot Chili Willy. Of course the connection was that they had all appeared on the Simpsons, so I won some weird karaoke PS2 game. (Which disturbingly gets great reviews.) Well, the important thing was that I finally got something out of my loads of otherwise useless trivial knowledge. And the host prenounced my last name as "Fudge" on national radio. Well Madvig, I just went and fudged your mama! Oh and I got me one of these fancy cellphones (yeah, if you're like in the year 2002!), which will be a nice change from my old one, which I couldn't get into discoteques because it could be used as an assault weapon. Up the Hammers!
Well, congrats to Steve Harris and all the other West Ham fans for moving back up in the Premier League. And congrats to me, because I've hust realized that I have MTV2 again, and to welcome me back they just played the new Slipknot video. Also congrats to Edu for moving to Valencia. How that's supposed to be a great career-move is beyond me, but all the best anyway. Somebody has to write the Danish FA and tell them, "if you're going to Finland, bring your own bogrolls". (in Danish) This is funny, in a morbid kind of way.* I can't remember if I posted this link before, but yipeee for Iceman staying at Highbury. And I kinda need to put in some kind of division to make the asterisk work. And Arseblogs banner for the FA Cup was pretty funny. Asterisk coming right up now. This is also funny. And that's about it for today. (* In a blatantly fake kind of way.) Friday, May 27, 2005
When you wake up feeling old.
Hurrah, I handed in my paper yesterday, which was a great frelief. 20 pages on Italian neo-realism, which I managed to compare with Dickens, Kafka, Greek tragedy, Richard Linklater and other more or less pretentious stuff. Unfortunately the traditional celebrations got a bit out of hand, so I'm a bit busted today. On the plus side I managed to win a bunch of money in a poker game. Right now the best thing on tv is Patch Adams, which is rarely a good alternative to anything, but in 5 minutes there'll be a documentary on Motorhead, and at midnight there's a Bill Maher show, so things are looking pretty good right now. This Should Cheer You Up For Sure
![]() Everyone else are posting their South Park versions of themselves, so now I have joined in on the fun. This is actually frighteningly close to how I look on 9 out of ten photos of me, except for the fact that South Park Roy isn't throwing the "sign of the devil" with his hands. Go here to make your own. Today is of course the day of the most anticipated game of football this year, and yes that is including the extremely dull CL Final on Wednesday. This of ccourse means I haven't really been able to focus on my paper all day. My only hope now is that I won't be to emotionally scarred tomorrow to do some serious work. So far I have done all the reading, watching and learning, and written 3 out of the 20 pages, so tomorrow it's GO-TIME, and I'll hopefully write 5-7 pages. I shall persevere, oh yes, I shall persevere. Friday, May 20, 2005
Cry, Cry Again.
So, I have officially started working on my paper now. That is, I've read the curriculum and seen one of the movies in question - haven't exactly written anything yet. I drew a question about Italian Neo-Realism, with a focus on Ladri di Biciclette and Germania, Anno Zero. Hardly one of my areas of expertise, but you can't win them all, I guess. 20 pages seems like quite a lot right now. Thursday, May 19, 2005
Good Things Come to Those You Hate.
Well, it's about time to stop beating around the bush, with the wrong end of the stick, and get some writing done. I have to pick up my assignment in an hour and then write 20 pages on film history in the next week. Yuck. Roskilde has picked up Velvet Revolver and Jimmy Eat World, which means that this year is going to be all about the stadium rock, which is of course fine by me. Excellent, in fact. And in an attempt to make nice with Roy Keane, Vieira has been talking about the FA Cup final. I especially enjoyed this quote: Vieira then accused Keane of leaving his own country in the lurch when he turned his back on the Republic of Ireland at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea. Asked about this latest remark, Vieira added: “Is it not true then? Did he not walk out on his country? Thank you." Very nice. Bitchy, but nice. Saturday, May 14, 2005
Your Word of the Day.
Pro·cras·ti·nate v. pro·cras·ti·nat·ed, pro·cras·ti·nat·ing, pro·cras·ti·nates To put off doing something, especially out of habitual carelessness or laziness. I should be reading a lot of stuff today, trying to prepare for my exams, but why would I want to read when I can play Digger? On Pete Yorn's website you can read that his next album will be out this fall, and he has even let that Dave Grohl dude play some drums on it, because that's what all the cool kids are doing these days. Henrik's Tongue is the place where you can see all the celebrities in the world dressed in Celtic outfits. My personal favorite has to be Shatner. Monday, May 09, 2005
Go Go Crown Maker!
I finally got around to buying my ticket for the Roskilde Festival today, so now I can start looking forward to seeing Sabbath again. In other terrific news I have dicovered that I have a week more than I thought before I have to start writing my paper, so now I'll just hang out and be dead man walking for a while. Actually I'd better start reading a bit in preparation. Since I'm still not doing anything fun this month, I've had a bit of extra cash, so I decided to buy the new, and very excellent, Nine Inch Nails album. So right now NIN and Eels are pretty much the only two bands in my universe. To make matters even better I've managed to win a bit of cash by predicting the 3-1 scoreline between AaB and AGF, and by betting on Swedish football and a horse named Crown Maker. Good stuff. Unfortunately I don't own the ability to quit while I'm ahead, so they'll probably dissappear again very soon. Oh, and how sweet is it that AGF are falling completely apart right now? If you answered a lot of sweet, then your answer is correct! I finally got around to watching Garden State tonight, and I have to say it was a bit disappointing. There was a lot of funny moments in it, but overall the story was pretty lame, and I didn't care too much for the ending either. For some reason there was also some very obvious flaws in the editing, although that's hardly enough to ruin a movie. Finally, I better make a link to Dennis' blog, because he has been kind enough to make a link to mine. Quid pro quo, and all that stuff. Sunday, May 08, 2005
This Shit is Bananas.
It's very rarely these days that I hear a female vocalist that I can really relate to. I like listening to some of Aimee Mann's stuff, and I've been to a Heather Nova show back in 1999 (I think), but I can't really say that I relate to them. Maybe I'm just not in contact with my feminine side. But that only makes it that more special that I've finally found a female songwriter that I can relate to. So now I can proudly say like Gwen, that I too am no hollaback girl. Wow, that felt great to get off my chest. It's those kinds of lyrics that just go straight to my ovaries. I have just seen Kingdom of Heaven, which was okay, but by no means great. One thing that puzzles me is; why cast Edward Norton to play a role where you don't see his face, and he does a very bad Marlon Brando imitation? They could just as well have hired me to do my imitation of Eddie Izzard doing a James Mason voice... Wednesday, May 04, 2005
Now You're Really Living.
Right now there's the anual regatta thing going on in the park outside my window, and it appears that I am one out of only a handfull of university students, who have decided not to drink the day away. So right now I can sit in my room, listen to the bass from the extremely lame music they play, and watch people pissing against every tree in the park. The reason I'm not down there, in case you're wondering, is that I have embarked on yet another abstinence month. So from now on it's no beer, or deer, for a month. In more positive news I have received the new Eels album. I don't exactly know what to think about it yet. I like Eels quite a lot, and have all their albums, but it reminds me a lot of Daisies of the Galaxy, which is my least favorite Eels album. And 33 songs may be just overdoing it a bit. I also got Garden State on dvd, which I'm looking very much forward to watching, and I got a combi-dvd featuring I, Robot, which is going to suck, and Dodgeball which is immensely funny. And, wasn't it just terrific to see Liverpool kick Chelsea out of the Champions League? The funniest part is of course that if Chelsea had won the CL it would have been pretty remarkable, but now they end up with the "fake double", which is sooo not as cool as the real double which Arsenal has had a habbit of winning. So up yours Chelsea! And now the Chelsea players are of course whining about the goal, somehow missing the fact that their keeper commited a clear foul seconds before the ball crossed the line, which should have led to a penalty, and possibly a red card. Oh well... Finally, here's a videoclip of possibly the biggest miss in the history of football, and no, I'm not talking about Mette Laudrup. Thursday, April 28, 2005
All the Jagged Edges Dissappear.
I've been listening a lot to the new Nine Inch Nails album online, and it's absolutely excellent, although a bit less ambtious than the last one. That means there's less instrumental passages and more "straight foward" rock. If you want to be as cool as me and listen to it before it's released, simply go here and enjoy. And this went pretty fast! Finally, the movie version of Hitchhikers Guide... looks like it could be quite funny, and gets nice reviews in Empire. I've never bothered to read the book, and if the movie ever comes to Denmark, I'll never have to. Monday, April 25, 2005
A Royal Pain.
This website was mentioned in Danish newspaper Politiken today, and it is brilliantly funny. As always the best part about a website that is the tinyest bit controversial, is where he posts the hatemail he has received. Good stuff. As I am always ready to support a good cause, you will notice that I have added the a link to Druk Mod Bush (Drunk against Bush) on the far left side, which comes courtesy of Jacob. And yes, it appears that princess Mary got royally screwed and is now finally pregnant, which of course is what all the people of Denmark has been waiting for. All day long people have been embrasing and kissing each other in celebration of this monumental achievement. And sure enough, it only took 5 minutes before someone figured out how they could get a bit of political attention out of it. But let's not let something as meaningles as politics or women's rights get in the way of what really matters: Spending the next six months trying to guess what the baby will be called. I predict the baby will either be named after someone really important and powerful, like Pope Benedict, Kofi Annan, Simon Kvamm, Bono or Connie Hedegaard, or if they continue the current trend of naming royal babies after cats, I recommend calling the baby Fritz. Hopefull the baby will not be named after Prince Albert, because that's just wrong. Uh, and I think there's a bit of footie in store tonight...
Doesn't that cloud look exactly like Crete?
Rolling Stone has an excellent article on Duran Duran. - When I grow up I want to be Simon LeBon. The Figurines show last night was very good, and I think I spend the rest of what little money I had, so now I just waiting for the next payday on Friday. Since I can't sleep on Sundays, I have become hooked on Nip/Tuck, which airs Sundays at 3 in the night. It's pretty much the most disgusting show on tv, which may be why it is so great. It's definitely the first time I have seen a man give himself a nosejob in front of a mirror. Wednesday, April 20, 2005
There's a New Pope in Town.
![]() In an unexpected turn of events, it turns out the new Pope is in fact not Cardinal Ratzinger, but Cardinal Ratzenberger. In accordance with Vatican rules he will now change his name to Benedict, after his favorite kind of eggs, just like Pope Florentine, Pope Omelet and Pope Hard-Boiled before him. I'm a proud black man...
What can I say? GWAR was everything I hoped it would be. From the first decapitation it was end to end good stuff. When they killed Arnold and Paris Hilton I knew this would be an evening to remember, but for me the highlight was when Michael Jackson and Blanket entered the stage and met their inevitable doom, while Jacko kept stating that he was in fact a proud black man, which was why people didn't like him. I won't go into further details here, as it will take som time, but I will proudly state that that I was covered in multiple colours of blood before I went home, as I was splattered several times. Fy for Puttgarden!
After talking to some people, it is now clear to me that it was in fact the king of Danish indie, Mikael Simpson, who did those commercials for the lottery a couple of years ago. The ones with the bicycle team and the guy who bought the ferry. Yes very stupid stuff indeed. Sadly I have very little tangible evidence, so if anyone can find some, please drop a link.
The City is a Dangerous Place.
I think the rest of this week will pretty much be packed with good stuff. It's the Gwar concert tomorrow, and then Napoleon Dynamite friday and Undead Saturday night, courtesy of the Natfilms Festival. I went downtown today to buy the new Corrosion of Conformity album, which will definitely take some getting used to. But then again I did not like the new QOTSA album right away, and now I think it's great. Anyhoo, I also ended up buying Swingers, Braindead, Halloween and Rock 'N' Roll High School on DVD, as they were practically free. Almost. I am likely to use Halloween for an exam later this year, and also Halloween and Rock 'N' Roll High School will be used as research to figure out exactly what happened to P.J. Soles..... I AM Your Neighbour.
The other day I got to think about that video of The Peanuts doing Hey Ya, so if anybody hasn't seen it make sure to check it out. I still think it's pretty funny. MilkandCookies is a great place to find videos and stuff, and for those who haven't seen them yet, I have to recommend the Rick James scenes from Chappelle's Show. And lastly, here's the clip with the funniest Niggars I've ever seen. Saturday, April 09, 2005
I'm Running in Quicksand.
I heard a statistic on the radio that said that 10% of all adults in Denmark suffer from insomnia, and 20% have regular problems sleeping. In an Alanis kind of way, the ironic part is that I heard this at 6am while trying desperately to fall asleep. Well, now at least I'm not the only one... There's not a lot going on news-wise. Henry is about to break Wrighty's scoring record in a couple of games. There's a story that Jacko alledgedly groped Macauley Culkin. Culkin then made him step in a bucket, dropped an anvil on his head and poured red paint all over him. Because that's just the kind of kid he was. And today is of course the day of the royal wedding, so right now that's the only thing on tv. They have even moved the premiership game, just to piss me off. When talking about Camilla Parker Bowels, Danish all-round celeb Susanne Bjerrehus said that Camilla was an angel compared to herself. This I think is good news for the British, since it most likely means Camilla has never had sex with a banana in weird 70's movies. Tuesday, April 05, 2005
No, my blog is not dead yet.
Not a lot going on these days; a bit of flu-like vibrations in my body, a bit of work, some school, and so on and so forth. I'm planning to go to the The Haunted concert Thursday, and Gwar next week, so hopefully that will be cool. The Life Aquatic was pretty funny, and especially the soundtrack was really cool. And I think that deep-sea diving sequence where Bill Murray talks about their radio-system will keep making me laugh for the rest of my life. Contrary to my first opinion, the new QOTSA album i actually pretty good, most of it anyway. And speaking of the Queens, Metal Hammer had a fairly funny April's Fool about them the other day. It's mostly funny because I remember having that discussion a couple of times before... Wednesday, March 23, 2005
I Found My Rosebud.
I just bought Citizen Kane on DVD. If people ask me why, I say "because it's the Citizen Kane of movies." Saturday, March 19, 2005

So, a very happy St Patrick's Day to one and all.
Usually I use this day as an excuse to explore, and exploit, my Irish roots, and drink loads of Guiness. This year, however, I can't really be too much bothered, as I am contemplating taking it easy for the next couple of weeks. So instead I have decided to open the very nice bottle of Paddy I got for Christmas, have a wee drink, and watch the presumably terrible game between Malmö and FC Copenhagen. Earlier I had to sit through Dreyer's Jeanne d'Arc which was by far one of the most boring films I've ever seen. i know it's supposed to be some kind of masterpiece, and there was some very cool camera-work and so on in it, but still I must honestly say, I didn't get it. I know it's the wrong time to say it, but I saw Shrek 2 yesterday, and yes, it was pretty funny. It's definitely the first animated film I've ever seen to boast Eels and Nick Cave on the soundtrack. ![]() GWAR at Voxhall? Count me in! Honestly, I think I would even go see Maroon 5 if they had made a DVD called Phallus in Wonderland. Oh, and the Diamond Nights song Destination Diamonds is utterly brilliant, and should be available for download here. Sunday, March 13, 2005
I'm too old for this sh*t...
I seem to remember a not so distant past where football was about playing, scoring goals, winning and losing. This week super-ref, and McGyver impersonator, Anders Frisk retired as referee because of multiple death threats. Arsenal's Ashley Cole is still involved in some Watergate-esque shenanigans. And I think this article says a lot about what modern football is coming to. I know this will make me sound like a bitter old fart, but whatever happened to players like Matthew Le Tissier, who stayed loyal to the same club, instead of chasing a bigger paycheck. And good old Gary Lineker who never got a yellow card in his entire career. Wouldn't it be great to reinstate a bit of dignity into sports? Wednesday, March 09, 2005
Here We Go Again.
Not a lot going on here at the home office recently. We had a Tour de Chambre recently, where I held a reasonably succesful gangsta-rap theme (sippin on Gin n' Juice), which allowed me to play some N.W.A and Dr. Dre records. We saw Sideways Monday night, which was thoroughly enjoyable, and which features probably the funniest male full-frontal ever. Because it was a special sneak preview we even had a glass of wine to go with the movie. Very nice indeed. Tonight we'll go to the pub and watch the Arsenal game, so as always I'll be nervous and jittery all day leading up to the game. In order to have something to do until then, I bought the new Paradise Lost album, and the new Doves ditto. But it's still too early to tell if they're any good. Doves, by the way, have a very fancy weblog thing going on on their site. And speaking of Arsenal, well almost, Matt Damon turns out to be a bit of an Arse. And Boy George shows us all how on top of current events he is. Like a wise man once said, they should call him GIRL George... And just to show that two can play that game, I'll make a link to Aziz' weblog entry from November last year, which was quite funny. And that's about it for now. Expect wild ramblings tonight if Arsenal succeed in their crazy task. Monday, February 28, 2005
Ich Habe Eine Kleine Problemo Avec Diese Situatione.
Well, aren't I a complete twat? It appears that everyone's favorite crossdressing comedian will be performing at Comedy Zoo in Copenhagen, and since I hadn't noticed until now, the event is completely sold out. Bollocks! Now I'll probably have to wait another nine years. In more bizzaro news: I always expected Jonathan Davis would be the first one to crack, but Head, the guitarist from Korn, has now left the band in order to dedicate himself to Christianity. Later, I suppose, he will be running for president. You can read more on www.HeadToChrist.com which is his actual website, and check out the new Jesus-look he's sporting. Monday, February 21, 2005

Random IQ Generator.
Since I always end up stealing stuff from Charlotte, I decided to take The Classic IQ Test at Tickle. Apparently my IQ is 135: "You are gifted with the natural fluency of a writer and the visual and spatial strengths of an artist. Those skills contribute to your creative and expressive mind." I don't know exactly how they got there, but if they say so I hope they are right. They even compared me to Helen Keller. So how did you do? Monday, February 14, 2005
When it Rains it Pours.
And when it snows, well, it also pours. It's been a bit of a transition going from the relative sun of Rome, ot the typical Danish grey weather, and right now it looks like Narnia outside. I can't say that I care too much for this snow, but at least bus- services are back to normal now, after I had to walk through the snow to get to a concert Saturday night, in what looked like a scenario from The Day After Tomorrow. It appears I'm the only one who's not going to the Evan Dando show tonight, so instead I am considering spending my Valentines Day down at the pub, watching Arsenal. Alone. Because, unlike Liverpool and Celtic fans, we will sometimes walk alone. Thursday, February 10, 2005
Make Mine Veal.
So. I'm back from an absolutely fantastic week in Rome. I have seen just about all the stuff I wanted to see in Rome, and must have walked a hundred a hundred miles. Highlights included the Colloseum, Ignazio (which is painted in 3D), and the Crypt of the Capuchins, which is decorated with the earthly remains of 4000 monks, and as I understand, a couple of guys who just happened to be in the neighbourhood. A bit morbid, but also very facinating. Another highlight was going to the Stadio Olimpico to watch Roma draw 1-1 against Bologna. Actually I became a bit of a closet Roma fan down there. Needless to say, the food was absolutely amazing. Apart from the typical Italien food, pasta etc, I also had a very nice plate of rabbit, and some veal, which people tell me I shouldn't eat, but which tasted amazing. We also had a bit of local beer down there, with Nastro Azzurro being the favorite. Since our hotel happened to be just across from an Irish pub, and the city was crawling with drunk Irish people because of some Rugby game, we also had a few Harp Lager's, which is always nice. I also had the dubious pleasure of watching some local TV, and I can inform you that Italian Mtv is just as crap as the version we have, except for the fact that they show a lot of (dubbed) sit-coms, including Scrubs, which is probably easier than trying to dub Doggy Fizzle Televizzle. Since we spent quite a lot of time in Stansted, courtesy of Ryan Air's No Service Policy, I also made a couple of impulse purchases, including The Great Shark Hunt, Shaun of the Dead, and an excellent game of Arsenal trumps. Well that's it for now, cheers. (And yes Kristian, I have bought a pack of Prawn Cocktail Flavoured Crisps, and the new NME, for you, but you better pick them up soon before they "dissapear"...) Cinnamnon, sigh....
So, my birthday is now well and truly over, and I suppose it's about time I grow up, become mature and develope a taste for sprouts and other grown up stuff. I got brilliant presents from my family, including The Rutles, Best in Show and the new Thrills album, which is excellent. Yesterday I just hung out with friends, eating burgers and drinking a couple of Erdingers. Overall very pleasant stuff. I recently did some impulse shopping on CD On, so today I got a package with 2 old Megadeth album, Wilco's Summerteeth and Eels' Shootenanny. All of this for less than 300 dkr. Good stuff! I know this may come off as being overly cynical, but today on the bus I saw a guy who missed the bus because he was kissing his girlfriend goodbye. He ran up the bus, and the door slammed just in front of him, and the bus drove away without him. And I actually startet laughing out loud, while some other guy tried to tell the busdriver to stop. Is that wrong? It seems that Black Sabbath will play Roskilde again, which is excellent news. I saw them at Roskilde in '98, and it was probably one of the three best shows I've ever seen. This combined with Alice Cooper at Skanderborg could mean a very metal summer for yours truly.l I watched Along Came Polly the other day, and it was absolute rubbish. I don't understand why Ben Stiller would make crap like that. Or Phillip Seymour Hoffmann for that matter. You know you're in trouble when Alec Baldwin is the highlight of the movie. ![]() After being confronted by his son with the fact that he didn't get a second term as President, George Bush Sr. says: "I would have gotten away with it, if it wasn't for those pesky Bill and Hillary kids!" Sunday, January 23, 2005
![]() It's about time for a new game of Who's Who? (Previousely known as Rob or Fab). This time you have to guess who is Danish swimmer Louise Ørnstedt, and who is Matt Lucas (sometimes known as George Dawes) It's harder than you think... Saturday, January 22, 2005
There are some pretty good live recordings of Therapy? available here. Go down to where it says Live Performances and get If It Kills Me, Church of Noise and other classics.
And this story about Bush making "the sign of the devil" is pretty funny, and has some terrific photos. I can't think of anything else to say. Cheers. Friday, January 21, 2005
As Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing.
I always knew there was some sort of justification for making local tv-news programs, and I think they found it today. Click here to see a short feature on the great band, and all-round good guys, Demolition Inc. Apparently Bruce Campbell is writing a new book, is it a good idea? I don't know. I watched Mystic River again the other day, and it's really not quite as good the second time around. Elf really wasn't fantastic either, but what christmas movie is, when watched in January? I am aware that you shouldn't always trust IMDb, but I'm fairly intrigued by the constellation of David Mamet and Will Farrell for what will be the best-titled movie ever: Joan of Bark: The Dog that Saved France. I got an e-mail from a girl I know yesterday, that was really strange. It was a correspondance between her and some guy who was macking on her. Or perhaps she was macking on him, or perhaps it was even one of those rare moments of mutual macking. (Yes, I have been watching The O. C. lately, and my vocabulary has been expanded. Those kids mack a lot!) I'm not exactly sure why I should have the pleasure of reading this email, again and again, until I knew it by heart, but I choose to take this as a clear sign that she subconsciously wants me and wants to do things to my body you only hear about in Prince songs. That, or she was really drunk and on crack when she sent it. Those things often go hand in hand anyway.
Right now I'm watching Thomas Gravesens new club getting their asses served to them on a plate by Zaragosa, and as expected he's on the bench. I think that from now on I will spend less time on football in generel, seing as how Arsenal suck like 11 hoovers at a sucking conference these days. Not that I wanna be a fair weather fan, it's just that it's so much more fun when your side is winning. And I tripped yesterday and hurt both my legs, so now I have a limp on both legs, which looks stupid when I walk. Damnation.
