This ain't Oprah's Bookclub

So, my school holiday is almost over now. I've been on holiday since late December, and it's safe to say it's beginning to be a bit boring, so I'm actually looking forward to getting back into the routine of pretending to study. Actually I got all the classes I signed up for this year, including a class on Bob Dylan and a class on cencorship (see also: Porn) in USA, so it should be pretty cool.

The other day I got Chuck Palahniuk's Choke from John, which I've started reading to get my brain back in gear. I read the first 100 pages or so last night, and it's terrific. Actually I didn't really care for the first chapter, but then it really picked up and it kinda has the same mix of being really depressing and hilarious as Fight Club, which was also a thoroughly enjoyable read. In these days of everybody gushing about how great Tolkien is, it's really great to read a book about a sexaddict/con-man who takes care of his senile mother, and knowing that I've actually got better taste than all those nerds put together. Okay, that might be overdoing it a bit, but it is a great book so far.

Arsenal drew Manchester United for the 5. round of the Fa Cup. Can't say I'm looking forward to that match too much, because while Arsenal are definitely able to win against everybody, they somehow also seem able to throw it all away against everybody. I saw Arsenal struggeling against a West Ham side who were down to ten men, and the next week United hammered the Hammers 6-0. Frankly it's a bit worrying!

Tomorrow it's Liverpool, and though I'm no Andy Gray I'll say our chances are a lot better. Basically because Liverpool are crap. Really crap. If crap was people, Liverpool would be China. Did that make sense?

Middlesbrough????

I just took this test, and it turns out I should have been a Middlesbrough supporter. After the quiz it said:

You're quite an easygoing character. You roll with life's punches and take the good times with the bad. Although you think you're doing fine, your friends worry you're not fulfilling your potential. Although you know you've got plenty of time, you wonder if you'll ever find the right person. 'Boro won't fill that gap, but they'll prove mildly diverting while looking.

While all this actually sounds very true, I have to wonder how the people at BBC could figure it out based on my favourite type of sausage (Sounds kinda dirrty!) and childrens programming.

As you might notice, it's now officially morning in Denmark and I haven't been to bed yet, and I haven't even been out drinking. Tonight that is. Thursday night somehow evolved from a tiny cozy gettogether, to pure alcohol fueled mayhem, which again resulted in me getting out of bed at about 5pm friday afternoon. So here, twelve hours later, I'm not exactly tired yet. But I have to get up tomorrow because, in a rare touch of genious, Danish TV has decided to show both the Leeds game and, more importently, the Arsenal game. This may be the first chance for us to see Sebastian Svärd in action, which could be very cool.
One of the better moments thursday night was watching photos from the new years party: I always dread pictures from parties, especially parties where I have been drunk out of my mind, but it wasn't critical at all.The pictures were actually pretty good, and I looked close to normal, especially considering I had had about 20 beers, a bottle of bubbly, and some awful red drinks.... oh and weird brown drinks. And at some point was attacked by 2 maniacs with a spray-can of whipped cream....

Oh yeah, it's my birthday on Sunday. Tomorrow that is. Half the time I feel terribly old, and the other half I feel like I'm 15 years old with a fake ID.

Oh, there's a T.A.T.U. video on MTV now, this calls for my complete attention. Must focus on lesbian lolitas from Russia...... Mmmmmmm Russia.....

I've just noticed a very interesting blog called The Drunken Rant, he seems like a good guy: Easy to relate to, Arsenal fan, and like myself prone to use the cunning mixture of alcohol and mobile phones to estrange his friends... Perhaps people, myself in particular, should just leave the phone at home sometimes.

Call me Snake

Oh no, it's Saturday evening and I'm at home doing absolutely nothing. As always there's absolutely fuck all on the TV, and I'm bored to tears. Tomorrow will hopefully be spent down at the pub, celebrating a victory over Birmingham, but right now I've got absolutely nothing to do.

Today was spent having a bit of a hangover, so we decided to go rent a movie. We stumbled upon Peter Jackson's Forgotten Silver, a mock-documentary about a rather unfortunate filmmaker from the beginning of the century. The premise may not sound that entertaining, but it was intelligently made and very amusing, although it is a bit hard to understand that people actually thought it was real. Speaking of mock-docs, rumour has it that there will be a sequal to the legendary Rutles movie.

While we were in Blockbuster, I found some used copies of Zoolander and Zero Effect for absolutely no money. I'm really looking forward to seing Zero Effect again, since I haven't seen it since my first "Unemployed slacker period" in '98.

I'm also looking forward to seing Confessions of a Dangerous Mind when/if it hits theatres in Denmark - click here for a review.

And now I'll try to watch Escape From New York, which apparently is the Danish TV-networks' idea of entertainment. I have a feeling I'll be noticably dumber when it's over. - Probably chanting "U-S-A, U-S-A.............."

Would the Real Roy Fogde Please Stand Up?

In a moment of extreme narcicism I decided type my own name in to Google in order to see how many hits would pop up. I have used the internet for some years now, I had a homepage some years ago, I have made different comments on different issues, I have popped up in different photo galleries from different parties etc, so I just wanted to see if there was anything I had forgotten, or something I didn't know about. But alas, I was not the only person to pop up on Google. Apparently there are other Roy Fogdes outthere. And not just that, they seem to lead more interesting lives than me. Bollocks, I'm being outRoyed.... The first Roy Fogde, perhaps even the real Roy Fogde , appears to be a big fan of Peter Sellers, he works as a photographer and he is able to repair a vacuumcleaner (That's just what I think it says on the page, my Swedish is really bad.) Apparently he also made it as No 358 in The Stockholm Marathon, which is pretty good. (Also notice No 1015, Jukka Pekka, don't know the guy, but it's a funny name....) How am I supposed to compete with a marathon running, vacuum-repairing photographer?
After that I was somewhat surprised to see that there is also another Roy Fogde, who was apparently killed by a person named Derek Correa. Freaky! Remind me not to go anywhere near that guy....

Apart from that, I havn't done a lot today, went to work, and left again a couple of hours later, tried to find some CD's I wanted to buy, ended up buying No 4 by Stone Temple Pilots, and the new Grope album. I'll get back to that later, when I've had a chance to listen to it. Cheers.
