Happy new year to everybody.
Statistically speaking years with even numbers have been better to me than uneven years, '98, 2000 and 2002 were pretty good years, so I'm really looking forward to getting this crap year over with. Word of advice: If you leave your phone at home tonight, there's a smaller chance you'll be making drunken phonecalls at 6 am tomorrow. Sunday, December 28, 2003
And The Award Goes To...
Christmas is over and the year is coming to an end. As always it's time to look back and evaluate, and like everybody else I have decided to make a couple of lists and give my humble opinion on the goods and the bads of 2003. All lists are in no particular order. Best Albums of 2003: Pete Yorn: The Day I Forgot. Type O Negative: Life Is Killing Me. Muse: Absolution. The Thrills: So Much For The City. Pernice Brothers: Yours, Mine, Ours. M. Ward: Tranfiguration of Vincent. Best Concerts: Metallica (Roskilde Festival) Therapy? (Godset) Nada Surf (Voxhall) Best Songs: Fountains Of Wayne: Bright Future In Sales. Nada Surf: The Way You Wear Your Head. Deftones: Minerva. Biggest Dissapointment: Metallica: St. Anger. Best Tv: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (CNN) Worst Tv: Idols (TV3). Popstars (TV2). Stjerne For En Aften (DR). Biggest Waste Of Time: Matrix Reloaded Best Movie I Saw In 2003: 28 Days Later. Punch Drunk Love. Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Pirates OF The Caribbean. Bowling For Columbine. (I am aware that most of these movies are from 2002, but either they hit theatres in Denmark in 2003 or I just only got around to seing them in 2003.) Favorite Fashion Statement of 2003: Started wearing badges again. Bought a Therapy? T-Shirt that said "Hey Satan You Rock". Most Overrated Person In Music in 2003: Pharrel Williams. Justine Timberlake. The rapper guy from Linkin Park. Best Cover version of a song: M. Ward: Let's Dance. Type O Negative: Angry Inch. Local H: Birth, School, Work, Death. Best Lyrics: Fountains Of Wayne: Hackensack. Worst Lyrics: Madonna: American Life. Smartest Career Move: Jay-Z deciding not to make more albums. Predictions for 2004: Jay-Z will make an album. 2Pac will make several. Radiohead will make a 74 minute album with Thom Yorke burping the alphabet. Q Magazine will call it album of the year. Robbie Williams will cry because no one understands him. Scott Weiland will get arrested. Well, I guess that's about it. What do you think? Am I completely wrong? Feel free to comment, and make post your own lists. Oh, and I finally reached 100 things in the about me section. Tuesday, December 23, 2003
I had a really weird dream last night, I don't remember all of it because it seemed to be one of those marathon dreams that lasted all night, but I distinctly remember sitting in a room with some guys I used to work with and ordering pizza. When the pizza guy came it was Paula Abdul, and she told us how her life had gone down hill since MC Scat Cat had decided not to make more music with her. So now she worked for a pizzeria, and she was pretty bad at it, because she had carried the pizza the wrong way, so all the topping had fallen off, and also she had forgotton my free Coke. She then dissapeared out of the room again, after she had charged me 80dkr, which I thought was a bit much for a pizza with very little topping.
I'd like to see what Freud could get out of that.... I don't think I'll make any more posts before christmas, so I hope you all have a good one, and spend it with the people you love, even if it means standing in her garden looking in through the window. Merry Christmas.
Sometimes The Sun just gets it right! If you don't care too much for reading about the world footballer of the year, which wasn't Henry, still go to the bottom of this article for a fantastic hairstyle comparison.

We're Off To See The Blizzard.
People have been talking about the blizzard that was supposed to close down the entire country, but as blizzards go, this one was a bit of a letdown. And I'm pretty convinced what little snow has fallen will soon dissappear and leave people dreaming of a white christmas. I'm not really in a christmassy mood so far, I just guess I'm one of those guys who don't get caught up in the spirit of those things. We had a christmas party in the dorm yesterday, and though tradition dictates that you must get drunk out of your mind at christmas parties, I was on reasonably good behaviour, and I actually remember myself as being quite charming, so maybe I did get too drunk. As tradition also dictates, I've been completely useless today. I saw the Emmy awards on the tv, and I've come to realise that I actually think Bill Cosby is a really cool guy. Normally I like comedy to be more edgy and provocative, but I really think he's funny and the Cosby Show is classic. Later I watched Eddie Izzards show Circle which gains a lot when you see it second and third time. Eddie is absolutely one of my favorite comedians, and even in a show that's not his best, I still get totally amazed when he starts a bit about the cafeteria on the death star. Right now I'm watching the Danish "comedian" Amin Jensen. For some reason he has become a huge star in Denmark. I'm not a big fan of Danish comedy shows, mainly because they're not very funny, which is normally one of the things I look for in comedy. For some reason a lot of Danish comedians tend to sing a lot in their shows, even Lasse Rimmer sang a bit on tv the other day, and it is a mistake. Songs are not funny! Which is why you'll never see Jerry Seinfeld making an impression of Michael Bolton. The most impressive thing about the Amin Jensen show is the drummer in his band, who, even though he must have heard the jokes a million times, is cracking up at every punchline. I'll round the day off by watching Jon Stewart in ten minutes. Not to bad! Wednesday, December 17, 2003
I've got nothing to say...
Well, I still have a nasty cold and I'm trying to prepare myself for an even nastier written exam this Friday. I have some really violent and loud coughing sessions every now and then, so I figure the poor people sitting next to me at the exam is going to hate me. Not really a lot else going on right now; I bought my last christmas present today, so at least that's over and done with. So after the exam Friday, there's a christmas party Saturday and then I'm off to my parents place for christmas, and then I don't have any plans until new years. And hopefully 2004 will be a better year than this one, which has quite frankly sucked in ways I didn't think possible. (The following links are probably only remotely interesting if you speak Danish.) If you're into metal and live in Aarhus, you might wanna check this out. Also if you're into Latvian radio, you might wanna look at this. I'm a bit bummed that Reino, young angry Reino, has apparently given up on his weblog. Perhaps he had a moment of clarity. John took this picture of a sticker we saw downtown, and I absolutely love it. Oh, and following the fire at the North Sea Museum which apparently had a giant fishtank with thousands of fish, my mom suggested that they should get thousands of guys to come up there with little plastic bags and save the fish. How nice! And a big congratulations to our friend aviation, who is celebrating a big birthday today. Monday, December 15, 2003
![]() You are a Cyberculture Floozie. The theoretical aspects of postmodernism interest you only insofar as they can be used to make cool blinky things. You probably take psychedelics and know at least one programming language (HTML counts!). Other postmodernists call you a corporate whore. They're probably just jealous because you make more money than them. What kind of postmodernist are you!? brought to you by Quizilla Sunday, December 14, 2003
What goes up must also come down. If you're planning on going out on the street and shooting your gun up in the air, please think about that. And make sure you don't hit any ducks...
I went down to the pub today to watch Arsenal - Blackburn. I don't know if you're a loser if you go to the pub alone, but I did so today. It was not a very good game, the attacking play was not very effective, so we had to pin our hopes on Kolo who in a moment of brilliance ran from right midfield down to the goalline, avoided a tackle, cut into the area, danced around, and gave the ball back to Bergkamp who couldn't miss. Super! The second half was pretty bad, and Cygan's everpresent big bald head came to the rescue several times. But 1-0 to the Arsenal is a good result, not entirely fair, and Arsenal's unbeaten run continues. I wonder if you can play an entire season without defeats and somehow still not win the league...

The Season For Giving.
I got my first christmas card in the mail today, which is always nice. It is from a guy at work, I don't really know him that well but he's a nice guy. He writes me every year to tell me he appreciates working with me and just to let me know how he's doing. I feel a bit guilty, because he writes me every year and I never really get around to writing him back, so I promise next year, Henning, I'm gonna send you a christmas card first. He's a Regular McGyver.
Is it wrong for me to be excited about getting a haircut? As it is right now I have a bigger mullet than Richard Dean Anderson could ever dream of, which can't go on. It's not like I'm suddenly turning metrosexual or anything, it's just that the last couple of years I've had friends cut my hair, with varying luck, so now I'm kinda looking forward to getting a professional haircut. This of course means my haircut can't go to the olympics, but I'm sure it will cope. So this time tomorrow I will have completed my transformation from old-grungy Roy, to young-business-exec Roy. Or, more likely, this time tomorrow I'll be wearing a hat... Oh, and people should take Emme's example and submit their Picasso paintings. Football. Wednesday, December 10, 2003

My first, and only, draft is here. Let the bidding begin... Tuesday, December 09, 2003
Waiting For The Universe To Die.
Recently I've been listening a lot to Pernice Brothers. Well, actually only the album called yours, mine & ours since it is the only one I know. But even so, it is really rather good. It reminded me of Morrisey, in a good way (not a big fan), which is kinda natural since Joe Pernice has actually written a book called Meat Is Murder. Anyway, there is a nice media section on their website where you can check out some of the songs from the album. I don't know exactly why, but I have loads of nervous energy today. I have been out walking all over the city looking for potential christmas presents, and now I don't know what to do. There's nothing on tv, and I'm feeling far to restless to start reading. Maybe it's because of the game tomorrow, but usually Champions League don't have any real effect on me. Maybe it's the full moon that is messing with my mind - wouldn't be the first time. Stupid moon! By the way, it's really odd, but I have absolutely no plans until the 19th. I really don't know what I'm supposed to do, but I have to figure something out, or I will probably die from intense boredom. What a sad destiny. Monday, December 08, 2003

12 Steps
The idiot upstairs had a party Thursday night, so I had to call him at 4am, as the grumpy old man I am, and tell him stop because I had to get up at 7 and go to work. After being at work, and doing absolutely nothing yesterday I had a nice 12 hour sleep, only disturbed by a drunken phonecall at 3 am, and now I'm actually feeling pretty good again. I have to go to a party tonight, that I'm not exactly a 100% thrilled about. It's probably going to be pretty good, but just in case I've come up with a pretty good tvelve step plan to get through the night: I'm gonna drink 10 beers, get some snacks and then go home at a reasonable hour. It's a plan so crazy it just might work! Until then I'm going to watch AGF get slaughtered while hoping that Arsenal can cope without Thierry Henry. Go Gunners. Tuesday, December 02, 2003
Hmm, I'm not feeling fantastic, but then again I'm not feeling too terrible, so overall I'm better of than I thought I would be. Today has been all about relaxing, doing nothing, except eating everything that I could find at my parents' place.
I tried watching the stuff that passes for family entertainment in Denmark on TV, but couldn't make myself watch women's handball, so I made some tea and tried to follow the Arsenal game on live text, which of course was not to be since someone f*cked up at Arsenal.com. But Arsenal won 5-1 over Wolves, so who am I to complain too much. I have absolutely nothing else to say, since I haven't been doing anything. If like me you sometimes visit All Things Footie, notice that the URL has changed. Monday, December 01, 2003
Argentina Would Cry For Me If She Could See Me Now.
It's like a silence before a storm right now. I have a feeling that I will soon be very ill. I am feeling kinda nauseous, have a sore throat, and that weird feeling that my eardrums might explode every second now. There's a very good chance that I will come down with a nasty flu tomorrow. So now my only comfort lies in front om me in a little yellow bag of peanut M&M's. This is gonna suck big-time.
