I don't even bother to make decent headlines anymore...
Am I the only one getting screwed by Blogger? I just finished a perfectly good rant about how I'm getting screwed by the entire universe (not in the good way!), and then Blogger just threw it out, or timed out, or whatever Blogger does. It's probably just as well, it wasn't very funny, so I'll just wallow in self-pity and read my 100's of pages of Baudrillard, that I have to read for next week, and that I absolutely doesn't get any of. Yikes! All of this because I signed up for a class on movies about NYC, and then of course the University has to assign all kinds of stupid reading assignments to take all the fun out of it. My only consolation is that tomorrow Danish TV actually shows PSV Eindhoven vs Gunners. I guess that kinda makes up for some of it.... Thursday, September 19, 2002
What Alcoholics Do In Their Spare Time.
So, it has been a while since i updated this page, mainly because nothing really interesting has happened; The FA are still screwing Arsenal, Arsenal keep winning and United still suck. Of course Danish TV didn't show the Arsenal-Dortmund game (The English champs against the German champs - who'd wanna see that?), but still chose to show the United-Macabi Haifa game, and just for that they will forever be known as whores. On a more positive note Danish TV are showing all 3 UEFA matches with Danish teams tonight, so my guess is I won't leave my room tonight. Yesterday I boldly went where no man has gone before, no straight man anyway. I participated in a project testing alcoholic alternatives to beer, wine and booze for our English Department magazine, DNL. We puchased a number of different Bacardi Breezers, Smirnoff Ice, Xider (No, I don't know the guy on the picture, it was the only Xider picture on Google, but now you have an idea of who usually buys that crap!), and some stuff called Champagnebrus, which is apparently made by mixing Cuba Caramel and some sort of lime. I don't know. It tasted like crap - I felt violated. The idea was that we (two girls, a guy and me) should test all this stuff based on some different criteria; taste, how cool it looked, how nauseous it makes you etc. and then write an article about it for the school magazine. The idea sounded somewhat better when we came up with it, than when we were actually testing it, some of the stuff I tasted yesterday was just vile. So if anybody reads this page and stumbles upon a Champagnebrus, or sees a friend buying one: Just Say No! - It looks crap, it tastes crap, there's not enough alcohol in it, and only has 25cl in the can, which actually turned out to be a good thing. The undisputed winner of the test was Smirnoff Ice - It looks like a little bottle of vodka, it tastes better, it has more alcohol. What's not to like? When I get around to it I'd like to make a "comments thing" at the end of of every entry, just to see if anybody actually reads this crap, but my programming skills are, shall we say, non-existent, so I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Maybe one day.... Monday, September 09, 2002
Kanu, Zlatan and Freddie
The rumours of his exit were greatly exaggerated. According to this article on Soccernet, Kanu has dismissed the rumour that he would leave Highbury, if he didn't get regular first team action. I for one never believed those rumous as they were presented by News of the World - the paper that also had the "Bergkamp whining about Wenger's rotation system" article. In other football news Zlatan Ibrahimovich has been involved in a bar fight, following Sweden's poor performance against Latvia. (The article is, once again in Danish, but as soon as I find one in English I will post it.) The best part is that though he's obviously trying to keep a Poul Gascoigne/Stig Töfting-like reputation, he ended up hiding behind the bar. The wimp. AND according to CNN, REUTERS, and The Daily Telegraph, our hero and saviour Freddie Ljungberg should be right on the verge of a comeback. According to the same article, Man City have signed Peter "Bignose" Schmeichel's son - They will live to regret the day they got involved with the Bignose family. Sunday, September 08, 2002
Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?
Danish TV has sunk to a new low; the only semi watchable thing on the telly tonight is Wild Things, and it's like the third time they show it. Apart from that the only thing left to watch is NFL, which I'm sure John is watching, and then there's a re-run of Wings at about midnight - That's just not good enough! Yesterday I was out rehearsing with our new Megadeth tribute-band; as expected it didn't sound fantastic, but what it lacked in musical genious it made up for in pure moronic, alcohol drenched fun, so a good time was had. We stopped rehearsing when the Norway-Denmark game came on, and spirits were high, atleast until Carew, the c*nt, made the equaliser in overtime. In the end i guess 2-2 was a fair result, but I was still pretty bitter about it yesterday. I have so far failed to find any articles about the game, probably because foreign medias aren't really as impressed with Danish football as we like to think. Though I'm making an effort not to put too many links to Danish articles, I just had to put this album review on the page. It is possibly the worst review any Danish recording artist has ever received, but what's worse: It's probably all true! Monday, September 02, 2002
That guy's a Major League Asshole.....
- Quote: George W. Bush Jr. According to this article Major League Baseball teams are cracking down on fansites for copyright infringements. I could go off on a rant about how they should be happy that anybody still supports their crappy teams, and the fans are the people who are the entire basis of Major Leagues, and without them NY Mets would be a softball team in Central Park. But I won't. I'll just roll my eyes and think c*nts.... Sunday, September 01, 2002
We were somewhere around Barstow.....
The last 6 days have litterally been like reenacting scenes from Leaving Las Vegas or even something out of the mind of Hunter S. Thompson. I've been out with all the new guys n' girls who've started at the English Department, trying to be a responsible tutor and trying to make them party hard for 5 days. As you would think, it hasn't been easy on the liver, and yesterday I attended a birthday with free beer from 1pm, and I wasn't home until 8am this morning. Though it has been thoroughly enjoyable, I must admit that I'm looking forward to not drinking for a couple of days. Maybe even reading a book... On Tuesday I bought the new album by Queens of the Stone Age, and I have to say that, though it is less accessible than Rated R, it rocks, and rocks hard. Arsenal drew 1-1 with Chelsea, in a game i didn't get to see due to a family gettogether, but from what I hear I didn't miss a lot. For a game report go here.
