Nigerian Trolls, Hugh Grant and Danish Football....
Ever looked at Nigerian footballer Taribo West and wondered where you've seen him before? The answer is here. I saw About a Boy yesterday and it was actually kinda okay. It wasn't half as sentimental and icky as I had feared, and watching Hugh Grant play a selfabsorbed bastard is always quite fun. So a good time was had, although the movie felt a bit long at times, with a running time of two hours. For a (surprisingly possitive) Roger Ebert review go here. All of today will be spent on the couch watching Danish football, as the season started today. It isn't all that thrilling, but it's all we've got right now until Premier League starts again. Already I've heard what must be one of the dumbest comments of the season: If that had gone in, that would have been a goal. Well duh.... Saturday, July 27, 2002
Do I make you Hornby???
Young uruguayan keeper Fabian Carini has been signed by Arsenal on a one year loan. I must admit I know almost nothing about him, except he let two in against Denmark and saved a penalty from Henry in the CL which really isn't a nice thing to do. In other football news Rivaldo is close to agreeing on a deal with AC Milan, which will probably mean that their other new signing Jon Dahl Tomasson will spend a season on the bench, start crying and go back to Dutch football. Does it sound familiar? Right now I'm watching So 90's weekend on MTV. Though they play a lot of crap, like they always do, there is something to be said for being able to see Guns n' Roses, MC Hammer, Metallica, 2Unlimited etc within one hour. Tonight I'm going to see About a Boy, which is probably going to stink, but I have to do it since I really enjoy Nick Hornby's books, perhaps because he's a music-geek and a Gooner. It's just easy to relate to.... Thursday, July 25, 2002
...if you can't look it in the face and hold your vomit.
According to this article INXS asked Mike Patton (of Faith No More) to be their new lead singer. Though his answer might be a bit harsh, I think the most mindbogling thing about this story is that they actually expected a straight answer from the guy, who is by all accounts barking mad. On a completely different note, I got busted riding the bus home from work without a ticket, so now I have to pay a huge fine. This means that I have actually lost money by going to work today. What a day... Wednesday, July 24, 2002
Man City sans Big-nose
While watching the Aarhus vs. City game, it struck me that I knew one of the Aarhus defenders. Kinda funny to see one of my old classmates' younger brother Søren Martinussen play against stars like Berkovic (class-act) and Anelka (cry-baby). He did okay I guess, considering that he played for a Danish 2. division team against an English PL team. All in all the game was as boring as you would expect from a game like that; Anelka didn't whine even once, and big, old, rednosed, cry-baby Peter Schmeichel didn't play. They only played one half, and City won the match 2-0. Who would have thunk it?!
In the beginning was nothing...
So here it goes, at this moment in time the newest blog on that pesky internet. Football, music and cool stuff will be heading this way soon (-er or later). Today is the day of the training game between FC Aarhus and Man City; you don't have to be a clairvoyant to tell who wins that one. I predict a 5 - 1 hammering by Keegans boys...
